This is specifically an E811 k001218 if any are curious. This was not only the first time I ever requested a watch as a present, but also the most expensive gift I have ever been given. The movement stopped a while back, but it did survive nearly ten years including me getting it when I was a Sophomore in High School.
Of course Im not the same build as my 15 year old studly (as in literally the size of a wall stud) self, so the watch is outside the wear style for me now. However, I like keeping everything I own in good shape, especially when someone else bought it for me. I know the movement is no longer made, so do any of you watch savvy Jalops know what to do from here? Or is this now a bracelet?
I’ll admit I saw a certain something way back in the day which made me pretty keen to have a Citizen and a Canon. Still want a gun like Vash’s one day, or a Crucifix with a rocket launcher in it. I’m not picky.

Generally a jeweler should be able to recommend a watch repair place that can help you out. Here in SF there is a whole building of watch and jewelry repair but most cities have at least one or two good options.

I just don’t know what the pricing would be for that. My worry is fixing the watch costing the same as buying a comparable watch. This is like whether to fix an old car or buy a replacement. Thank you, Ill keep checking since the watch repair shop I stopped in told me about needing a no longer produced movement after holding it a couple of weeks.

It is a good looking watch. Fix it, who knows maybe you will go retro and grow back into it.

I’ve taken a few watches for repairs and each time I’ve gotten an estimate in advance which turned out to be fairly accurate. You’re right that it can be like an old car in that the cost can be a significant fraction of the cost of a new watch.

I believe they prefer “senior citizen”.
